O'Neill
At O'Neill, I have been able to acquire many skill sets. I have been given the opportunity to learn how to use the PLM system and I have been able to work directly with the Boardshort Designer and Director of Merchandising as well as others. My skills have definitely been tested, and I have been able to apply many skills that I have learned in school at this Internship with O'Neill. I was able to come to a better understanding of the design process and I was able to attend many meetings such as a sales rep. meetings to determine pricing and styles that were going to be offered and sales meetings, which was to explain the technology and purpose of certain products, to understand how everyone's vision meets at one place.
Some of the things I have been able to apply at this job that I have learned at CPP is, being able to use the light box and understanding that different colors look different in other lights. By already knowing how to use this technology, I felt more comfortable taking on this task and making comments for the vendors to execute the colors better for the new samples that they would be sending us before we finalized the products. Knowing Adobe Illustrator helped me utilize my time better and get projects done efficiently, and start new projects for my employer. Also, knowing many short cuts on Excel made my life way easier when I had to compare prices of O'Neill's international products that they wanted to sell here in the United States to keep their target market happy.
When I conducted the competitive analysis for Jack O'Neill, I felt very comfortable in taking on that task. This is one of many projects given to me to where I once again realized the importance of knowing who your competitors are and how the company you are working for needs to be up to date on what their competitors doing to keep their target market happy and have them keep buying their products. (Price Tier competitive analysis is shown below).
**After my internship was over, O'Neill offered me a temporary job and I took the offer.

Hurley
During my stay at Hurley, I worked as a sales associate and a visual merchandiser. I got to interact with surfers, models, artist, skateboarders, employees as well as their family and friends. I worked with the Manager there at the store as well as one of the Head Merchandisers to create the right look for the Hurley employee store and create a proto store that Nike wanted us to create there at corporate. Here I learned how to manage my time, be creative and how to be consumer friendly. It was a great opportunity for me to work at this company because it helped me learn what I liked and what I didn't like as well as helping me understand the surf industry a little better since I had just moved to the area. The people were very nice and always helpful and I was very thankful for the learning experiences that I encounter during my time there.
